Using a drone in Canada for commercial purposes is highly regulated. Drone pilots must pass a series of tests and hold a Basic or Advanced license through Transport Canada. Our Chief pilot, Eddy Ray, has an Advanced license which includes both a written exam and flight review. This rating ensures you are getting a highly-trained pilot for your project.
What can a Drone do ?
Drones have proven themselves around the world as ideal solutions for problems facing numerous industries. Just a few of the applications having a positive impact on the world include search and rescue, firefighting, accident reconstruction, real-time construction site monitoring, 3D modeling, photography, aerial mapping, precision agriculture, forest management, conservation, industrial inspections, volumetric calculations, and more. Are you curious how drones can help you? Our team would love to discuss your needs and how we can provide an aerial solution.
Are you licensed ?
Airrays only operates with licensed pilots. Our Chief pilot, Eddy Ray, holds the highest commercial drone pilot rating under the current rules of Transport Canada. Eddy earned his Advanced license on in April 2019.
How high can you fly ?
The vertical limit for all commercial drone pilots is 400ft (122 meters) above ground level (AGL). Transport Canada sets this limit. All licensed pilots must stay below this level unless they hold a Special Flight Operations Certificate (SFOC). Please contact us if you believe you need to fly above 400ft.
Can you fly near airports?
Flying near airports requires commercial drone pilots to have special training. Our Chief Pilot has had this training and can gain access to the airspace around airports.
How long can you fly for?
Most commercial drones are capable of flying for about 30 minutes on each battery charge. To provide our clients with the best product, our pilots carry multiple batteries on each mission. Batteries charge quickly, allowing for virtually uninterrupted coverage.
Can you fly indoors?
Flying indoors is not a problem for our team. Transport Canada does not control indoor flight. For this reason, you need a pilot trained to handle operating a drone without GPS and who understands the unique dangers present with indoor flying. Our team has the expertise and insurance to fly indoors if that is what you require.
